A renaissance is underway on the beautiful
Mississippi Gulf Coast. Since hurricane Katrina slammed into the Coast on
August 29, 2005, a change of historic proportions is underway that will take
the Coast into a fantastic future as a destination location that rivals the
best in the world. While there is much to be done, major progress is
underway and you can be a part of it. The Coast's many casinos are being
rebuilt bigger and more luxurious than ever. And with the change to
land-based casinos, which was approved by the legislature shortly after
Katrina, look for all of the casino resorts to become more fun and elaborate
with all the excitement that a casino vacation can be. Already, three
casinos have reopened and more will be opening throughout the year.
Mississippi law requires all the
casinos on the Coast to be on the shoreline, which is a great place to be
because of the fun and views such locations offer. With the new land-based
casino law in effect for the Mississippi Coast, all of the properties are
redesigning new amenities and features that reflect a new vision for the
Coast's casino resorts.
Currently, there are three
Mississippi Coast casino resorts open. They include the IP (photo below),
which is located just off the I-110 bridge to I-10 on Biloxi's Back Bay, the
Isle of Capri and Palace Casino resorts in East Biloxi. The IP was
completely renovated following Hurricane Katrina and is much more luxurious
than before the storm.

As you can see,
Casinos in Biloxi are large
operations with services and amenities that you would find at any quality
casino resort anywhere in the world. The advantage here though, is the beach and access
to fabulous deep-sea fishing, historic Mississippi Coast communities, and
shopping; and only an
1½ hour drive to historic New Orleans. Plus, with each visit, you can see
the Coast recover. While there has been considerable damage from Katrina,
there is still plenty to see and do. You will also be part of the adventure
of the Coast's Katrina Recovery. There is no place anywhere like it.

The photo above is of the Palace
Casino and Resort in East Biloxi. It has moved all of its gaming activities
inside the main complex and has removed its casino barge that was attached
to the building. It too has been renovated with new restaurants and
amenities since Katrina.

As you can see from this photo
of the
Beau
Rivage Resort & Casino , the Coast's premier casino is nearly ready
to reopen. This photo was taken from just north of the property in downtown
Biloxi. Beau Rivage will be reopening August 29 with all
new rooms, restaurants, gaming floor and in-house shopping.

The historic Biloxi Fishing schooner Glenn Swetman, is back in
business offering tours of the Coast from the water. It is shown sailing
by Beau Rivage, which towers in the distance. You can make out the
Beau's lighthouse that is at the southwest corner of their harbor. It is
interesting that the Beau Rivage hotel casts an optical illusion. Each
window actually covers two or more floors, making the tower look smaller at
a distance.
than it actually is.

Isle of Capri lights the sky on Biloxi East
peninsula on U.S. 90. It has moved its casino floor into the main hotel
building and work to expand the operation is continuing.
Extensive work to rebuild and
replace damaged beachfront property and casinos is underway throughout the
Mississippi Coast. We will keep you updated on our progress. Look for more
information here soon.
