Mississippi Gulf Coast

Welcome to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

2008 finds Biloxi on the Mississippi Coast well on its way to recovery...On August 29, 2005, the Mississippi Gulf Coast changed forever. That is the day Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Coast with Category 4 winds and a storm surge that exceeded 35 feet - a virtual tsunami that inundated the coastline from Pascagoula west to Waveland and overran all of the Coast's casinos inflicting catastrophic damages to beachfront and inland businesses and homes. But to drive down Biloxi's casino strip, you can see that Biloxi has a bright future and the present is pretty good too.

2007 was a great year for Biloxi's casino industry breaking records established even before the hurricane.

Since Katrina, a truly historic rebuilding effort is underway to build the Mississippi Coast into one of the premiere places to vacation in the United States. Help from around the nation has made a difference, and continues to be appreciated in rebuilding homes and lives, and yes, more is needed to be done, but the progress has been breathtaking in Biloxi.

Tremendous work has been done since Hurricane Katrina, but rebuilding all of the Mississippi Coast remains a monumental task.

The area's casinos in Biloxi and elsewhere on the Coast are rebuilt and include the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, Biloxi Grand, the IP, the Isle of Capri, the Palace, Boomtown, Hard Rock and Treasure Bay, in Biloxi. Gulfport's Island View Casino (formerly the Gulfport Grand) is open, and in Hancock County, there are the Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis as well as the Silver Slipper in Waveland.

Tremendous progress has been made since Hurricane Katrina and the Mississippi Coast will be back. Bigger and better than ever. A new Mississippi Coast with all the fun and wonderful hospitality that marks the Coast as a warm and friendly place to visit.

Visitors coming here now can see the work that is ahead of us and still enjoy the casino experience that makes the Mississippi Coast unique. Many of the other special features, such as Cruisin' the Coast, the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, the Crawfish Festival and many more events have already returned with more coming throughout 2008.

Our main highway, U.S. 90 that runs along the beach is open as well as the new Biloxi-Ocean Springs and Bay St. Louis bridges.

With the passage of land-based casino legislation, you can expect to see Mississippi's coastal casinos become spectacular resorts. There will be more of them too as plans are underway that may bring the total number of resorts to nearly 20 within the next ten years.

But that is not all, there is coming more shopping, more restaurants and motels and things to do and see. That is the future of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. A place families can enjoy, with the adventure  no place else can match.

Already, a change in the Biloxi skyline in underway as high rise condominiums, are popping up to handle the future population growth of the city. There is still a lot of work ahead, but the unique character of the Coast remains in place.

The Coast's 26 miles of white sand beach remains and more smaller motels that were damaged by the hurricane have been reopening. So if you plan to visit the Mississippi Coast overnight, it will be more difficult to get a reservation as the demand for space often exceeds the limited supply of rooms - for a while at least. Your best choice here is to use the Expedia reservations links on the main page of MississippiCasinos.com.

Out of the disaster of Katrina and the dreams of the people of the Mississippi Coast, a bright future is on the way. Come see it happen.
