Frequently Asked Questions -
Answered |
- I have heard that the Mississippi
Coast is still in shambles, is that true? The Coast has still much
to offer while it rebuilds. The areas where the casinos are located are
largely back to normal and the inland areas, shops, and golf courses are
fine. While there is still a lot of reconstruction underway and needed,
the Mississippi Coast remains a beautiful place visit and you will see
the exciting changes the post-Katrina era is bringing.
- Is there transportation available from nearby airports? Yes. Besides
car rentals, most casinos offer transportation service to and from the
airports in Memphis and at the Gulfport/Biloxi International Airport.
- How old must someone be to play in
the casinos? Mississippi law requires at you must be at least 21
years old to play in a casino. If you look young, you can expect
security at the casino's entrance will check your identification. You
may also receive a stamp on your hand. If you appear to be young, you
may be further asked to provide your ID while playing by a dealer,
security, or a floor supervisor. People younger than 21 can enter the
casino to go to a restaurant when escorted by an adult if they must
cross the casino floor, so there is no reason not to take children to
the many great restaurants available.
- Can I make reservations from MississippiCasinos.com?
Yes you can. You can make reservations from our Expedia link on the main page. From that link, you can make a
hotel reservation, rent a car, and arrange air travel in just a few
minutes. Using Expedia saves you money, and gets you a confirmed
reservation for that peace of mind you need to enjoy your trip. You can
also use our Expedia link to make air, hotel, and car reservations to
other cities around the world.
- I don't want to stay at a casino
hotel, can I make reservations to a hotel nearby a casino? Yes you
can. Through our Expedia link you can get reservations to hotels that are nearby casinos.
Note: Hurricane Katrina severely damaged or destroyed many of the
Coast's smaller hotels and motels. While some have rebuilt, there is
still much to do. As a result, there are fewer rooms than were available
before the hurricane.
- Is there jet service to the
Mississippi Gulf Coast? Yes. Also, all the carriers have returned to
full operation at the Gulfport/Biloxi International Airport. (Note: the
airport on the Coast is undergoing construction with a major expansion)
- Is there transportation from the casinos to other casinos? Yes.
Shuttle services are available at no cost to the rider (but a tip for
the driver is considered normal.)
- Do Mississippi casinos offer anything for children? Some casinos do
offer programs and entertainment for children, but keep in mind that
casinos are primarily an adult entertainment choice. But you might want to check with the casino you are
visiting to see what is available.
- Do Mississippi casinos offer R/V facilities? Some casinos do offer
limited R/V services, but generally R/V service is limited to parking
and not long term stays. Usually there are several R/V parks nearby.
- Are there other things to do besides gamble? Absolutely YES! Great
restaurants, shopping, golf and interesting places to visit are nearby
all the casinos. On the Mississippi Coast, there is the beach, terrific
deep sea fishing-from charter boats or just off the piers located
adjacent to the casinos.
- I am on a limited budget, are there discount packages available?
Yes. Most casinos, and nearby independent motels and hotels, offer
discount vacation packages and discount meal and entertainment coupons.
Be sure to ask when making a reservation or when you check in at the
desk.
- What makes Mississippi Casinos different than casinos in other
states? The best answer is HOSPITALITY. You will find vacationing in
Mississippi different and fun with friendly, courteous employees.
- Do the casinos in Mississippi ever
close? Mississippi's casinos are 24-hour a day operations, and
generally do not close. There are rare exceptions. For example, casinos
on the Gulf Coast may temporarily close if there is a hurricane or
tropical storm forecast to hit nearby. Riverfront casinos may close if
there are unusually high river levels. In every case, the closure is
well announced in the news media. MississippiCasinos.com will also carry
those notices.
- Can I use casino chips from one
casino in Mississippi in another Mississippi casino? Yes you can.
The chips can be played without exchanging them, however the dealers
will substitute those chips with those from their casino when played.
You should ask your dealer, or the cashier about the chips if you have
any questions. It is normal for the dealers and cashiers to examine
carefully the chips from other casinos. The best practice though is
to cash out your chips at the casino where you got them.
- Is nearby parking available at
Mississippi Casinos? Yes. Ample parking is available at all
Mississippi Casinos. Parking is also available for large vehicles. Valet
and self parking is also available.
